Old Man Mountain emerged in 1996 to solve the problem of mounting racks on bikes without traditional mounting points, enabling every bike to do more. Our Fit Kits offer significant advantages over eyelet mounting.
Fit Kits safeguard your bike. Not all bike eyelets are suitable for racks; many are designed only for fenders or have low weight limits. Axle mounting protects your bike frame.
Need to carry more gear? Axle mounting boosts our rack's load capacity up to 70lbs/33kg.
Want to switch your rack between multiple bikes? Fit Kits make it a breeze to swap between bikes or shift from front to rear mounting with just a few bolts.
The Fit Kit SET813 includes all the components required to thru axle mount an Old Man Mountain bike rack to your mountain bike with a 12 mm thru axle. This kit comes with a 12 x 160 - 172mm thru axle with a 1.0 mm thread pitch, a pair of pucks, clear protective tape, and stainless - steel mounting hardware.

Using the Old Man Mountain Rack Fit Kit SET813 is straightforward. First, make sure your mountain bike has a 12 mm thru axle. Take out the 12 x 160 - 172mm thru axle from the kit and install it on your bike. Then, place the pair of pucks in the appropriate spots. Use the clear protective tape to protect areas of your bike that might get scratched during installation. Finally, use the stainless - steel mounting hardware to secure the rack.
When using the rack, don't exceed the 70lbs/33kg load capacity. This helps keep your ride safe and prevents damage to the rack and your bike. If you plan to switch the rack between bikes, take your time to ensure all bolts are tightened properly after each swap.
For maintenance, regularly check the mounting hardware for any signs of loosening. Wipe down the components with a clean cloth to keep them free from dirt and debris. If you notice any damage to the parts, contact Old Man Mountain for replacements.
